HOW DID HE NOT SCORE?! Carrasco has just had arguably the best chance of the game to surely Atletico back to Spain with all three points. Atletico had a corner which was whipped into the box and met by Carrasco, his low header was brilliantly saved by Alisson and then the rebound fell perfectly to Carrasco's feet just a couple of yards from the goal and he just had to hit the target. However, his powerful effort smashes against the post and goes wide. Carrasco, his teammates and the visiting supporters can't believe it!

Another Roma penalty shout! This time it is Kolarov who has gone down in the box and is appealing for a spot-kick but once again the referee waves away any protests. There were few complaints this time as Kolarov appeared to almost jump into the Atletico defender and then throw himself to the ground.
83'
CHANCE ATLETICO! Another great save by Alisson to deny Atletico a goal this evening! The Roma keeper was forced to make a superb diving save to his left to deny Ángel Correa, as his shot looked to be heading into the top right-hand corner of the net. Kolarov then defends the rebound well, by calmly heading the ball back to his keeper with Atletico attackers lurking nearby.

PENALTY SHOUT! Perotti does well to beat a couple of Atletico defenders down the right and then just as he enters the box he goes down under pressure from Godin. There doesn't appear to be much contact between the two players, but certainly a hand on the shoulder of Perotti, who, along with the home crowd are adamant they should be given a penalty. However, the referee awards a goal-kick to Atletico after the ball ran out of play.

Less than 20 minutes left to play here at the Stadio Olimpico and it is all Atletico at the moment, they haven't created a major chance in the last 10-15 minutes though after looking very dangerous for large spells. Another good Atletico chance! Saul with another opportunity to score tonight! Juanfran did well down the right wing, getting forward with pace then pulling the ball back from the byline straight to the feet of Saul who hit the ball first time, however his shot was straight at Alisson who made a good straightforward save. He really should've done better with that chance.

Both teams have started the second half brightly, looking to break forward with pace and create goalscoring chances. Roma are yet to really threaten the Atletico goal and they may need to make some changes to move forward. Meanwhile, the visitors look dangerous everytime they venture forward but the final ball is lacking at the moment.

Atletico Madrid have won more than half of their last 12 Champions League outings, whilst Roma have more than half of their last six in the competition and have won none. Atletico have seen fewer than three goals in those victories as well.

Elsewhere in Group C tonight, Chelsea are beating Qarabag 2-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Pedro and Zappacosta. This is an extremely difficult Champions League group, with these two teams and Chelsea likely to be fighting it out for the top two spots and qualification to the next round. So a victory tonight for either side would be a massive step towards that.

33'
OFF THE LINE! So close for Atletico! Just seconds after Nainggolan went close with a long-range effort, the visitors broke on the counter and came incredibly close to opening the scoring here. Griezmann plays the ball to Koke, who just has the keeper to beat it seems, he beats Alisson but his shot is blocked off the line by a brilliant sliding tackle, saving an almost certain goal.

Roma have a free-kick in a decent position to whip it into the box and threaten the Atletico goal. Filipe Luis brought Nainggolan down, bringing the free-kick close to the touchline. The ball is played into the box, but it is well defended by Atletico who comfortably clear the danger.
26'
CHANCE ATLETICO! Griezmann was given far to much time and space for a player of his quality to bring the ball into the box down from Filipe Luis, turn and then fire a low shot at goal. However, it went just wide of the Roma goal, but it had Alisson scrambling across to make sure that wasn't heading into the back of the net.
24'
Daniele De Rossi and Radja Nainggolan are starting to see more and more of the ball and dominate proceedings for Roma, directing the play both defensively and going forward, then sitting back and giving cover to their defence as the more attacking players come to the fore.

Decent chance for Atletico! It was good build-up play by Atletico to work the ball to Luciano Vietto on the edge of the box, who took a touch, turned and fired a low shot at the Roma goal. Fortunately for Alisson it was straight at him and he was able to make a comfortable save.

Atletico are doing well to keep Roma away from their own half at the moment. The hosts have started to enjoy a spell of possession, but good pressure from Atletico is forcing them to either play the ball back to Alisson or play the ball long, which is handing the ball straight back to the Spanish side.
12'
Filipe Luis looks dangerous down the left flank for Atletico, the wing-back is getting forward at every opportunity and he looks dangerous when he is on the ball, constantly looking to pick out Antoine Griezmann or a fellow teammate with a first time pass or cross into the box.

However, Roma looked to have regained their shape and composure from the Saul scare and look more composed now.
3'
CHANCE ATLETICO! The visitors come agonisingly close to taking the lead here in the opening minutes of the game! Filipe Luis broke forward with pace down the left wing, he cut inside and played a square ball to Saul who made a great run to the edge of the box. The midfielder tried to sidefoot the ball into the bottom corner, but it went inches wide of the Roma goal! It looked a certain goal! Great start by Atletico.

We're underway!
Good evening and welcome to our LIVE match commentary of the Champions League clash between Roma and Atletico Madrid.
AS Roma were given a break from football on Saturday as their Serie A match away to Sampdoria was postponed, due to heavy rainfall. Therefore, the Roma players have been out of competitive club action since their 3-1 loss at home to Inter Milan at the end of August, but they will be hoping to improve tonight.
The Italians haven’t enjoyed the best start to the season. They were poor during pre-season and have only won one of their two games so far. They were disappointing at home against Inter Milan, and face a very strong Atletico Madrid side tonight.
The Italians missed out on the group stages last season, but have reached this stage three times since 2010, although they didn't make it past the first knockout round. They face a tough ask to make it out of the group this year, facing Premier League Champions Chelsea who return to the competition this year, along with Atletico and Qarabag.
Atletico Madrid have reached the Champions League Final in two of the last four seasons, but on both occasions, were beaten by arch city rivals Real Madrid. Their rivals also knocked them out in the semi-finals last season, but they have made it to at least the quarter finals in each of the last four years, which shows their strength and quality in the competition.
The visitors haven’t looked great so far this season, winning just one of their three competitive games, which includes drawing against Girona and Valencia. However, Diego Simeone always gets his side performing in the Champions League, they have won eight of their last 12 games in the competition and only lost twice. These two defeats came against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
The team news is in and here is how the two sides line-up this evening...
ROMA (4-3-3): Alisson (GK); Bruno Peres, Manolas, J. Jesus, Kolarov; Nainggolan, De Rossi, Strootman; Defrel, Dzeko, Perotti.
The teams are out here at the Stadio Olimpico and kick-off is almost upon us. Stay tuned for all of the match action!
HALF-TIME: ROMA 0-0 ATLETICO
Atletico have had the best chances of the game to break the deadlock here at the Stadio Olimpico, with Saul firing just wide after a matter of minutes and Koke had an effort superbly cleared off the line later on. However, the score remains goalless here and all to play for in this Group C fixture.
FULL-TIME: ROMA 0-0 ATLETICO
It ends goalless at the Stadio Olimpico between Roma and Atletico Madrid. The visitors had countless chances to score tonight but were denied by some brilliant defending and goalkeeping from Alisson to make sure that the points were shared. Carrasco should've won it late on for the Spanish side but he could only hit the post from close range.
That's all from us tonight folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
