McShane makes his way off the pitch after being bandaged up by the medical staff, and it looks as if he's going to battle his way through the final 10 minutes of the game.
79'
McShane is really struggling. Not only has he received a nasty cut to his thigh, but he has also had his head split open after being struck by the knee of Fellaini. At the moment he is still on the floor receiving treatment from the Hull medical staff.
77'
M. Fellaini goes off after a red card!
RED CARD! Fellaini is off! The Belgian flies into McShane with his studs up and catches the defender in the thigh, splitting it open and resulting in him being given his marching orders by the referee. That was a truly terrible challenge.
76'

And now N'Doye almost scores! Another brilliant cross pierces the heart of the penalty area and finds the Senegalese striker, who pulls off a great volley that sails just past the far post.

33'
Rooney is dispossessed by McShane midway inside the United half of the pitch, and the defender keeps charging forward in search of the ball but is unable to get a shot away before the danger is cleared by Valdes. Nonetheless, the Irishman's determination really lifted the crowd, who are all applauding his effort.

And we're off! United get us underway, attacking from left to right.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League clash between Hull City and Manchester United. My name is Ben Cullimore and I will be keeping you up to date with all of the action from the KC Stadium.
It’s crunch time for Hull, who have a mammoth task ahead of them if they are to avoid relegation. Anything less than three points today will see the Tigers drop to the Championship after a two-season stay in the Premier League, whilst a shock victory against United may be enough to help them climb out of the drop zone at the last minute, but only if 17th-place Newcastle United, the only other side in any danger, fail to win their clash against West Ham United.
Whilst Hull are more than up for the challenge, recent history is not on their side; in seven meetings between the two teams, they have never picked up a single point against the Red Devils, whilst last November’s clash at Old Trafford ended in a comfortable 3-0 win for a United side that look far more impressive now than they did back then in the opening half of the season. Furthermore, in 17 years as a manager Steve Bruce has never led one of his sides to victory against his former club, a record that continues to haunt him and gives a good indication of what outcome may face the hosts this afternoon.
End of season tiredness and apathy may play into Hull’s hands, however, as United are guaranteed a fourth-spot finish, and the Champions League place that comes with it, meaning that they head to the KC Stadium with little to play for. But, despite this, Louis Van Gaal will no doubt be determined to end the season on a high ahead of what is sure to be a busy summer of rebuilding for the 20-time league champions.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Hull City XI (3-5-2): Harper; Chester, Dawson, McShane; El Mohamady, Meyler, Huddlestone, Quinn, Brady; N’Doye, Jelavic.
Hull City substitutes: McGregor, Rosenior, Bruce, Robertson, Sagbo, Hernandez, Aluko.
Manchester United XI (4-1-4-1): Valdes; Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Rojo; Blind; Mata, Herrera, Di Maria, Young; Rooney.
Manchester United substitutes: Lindegaard, McNair, Blackett, Fellaini, Januzaj, Wilson, Van Persie.
Steve Bruce has decided to name an unchanged Hull side to the one that started last weekend’s 2-0 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur, whilst United boss Louis Van Gaal has made three alterations to the starting 11 from the 1-1 draw against Arsenal, with Victor Valdes, Angel Di Maria and Wayne Rooney coming into the squad to replace David De Gea, Marouane Fellaini and Radamel Falcao, respectively.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: HULL CITY 0-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
Steve Bruce will be very pleased with the way his side have performed so far, but no matter how impressive they have been they are missing that all-important goal. After a blisteringly quick start that resulted in two goals being correctly ruled out for offside, the pace of the game slowed down somewhat, with United finding it easy to keep hold of possession, even if they weren't able to do much with it. If they are to have any chance of winning, and avoiding the drop, Hull will need to up the ante and push even further forward in the second half.
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: HULL CITY 0-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
It's all over for Hull, who, despite putting in an impressive performance today, have been relegated to the Championship, bringing an end to their two-year stay in the Premier League.
The hosts pushed forward as many bodies as possible from start to finish, putting United under plenty of pressure all afternoon long, but they just couldn't find the back of the net, no matter how hard they tried. That has been the story of their season, as their struggles in the final third of the pitch have haunted them and, ultimately, have proved to be their downfall.
Hull now have serious rebuilding to do, and it's going to be incredibly interesting to see who stays at the club and who disappears in what is sure to be a manic summer for the Tigers.
My name is Ben Cullimore and it's been an absolute pleasure describing all of the action to you this afternoon. Until next season, goodbye!
