Gladbach were unable to build on their impressive run of five wins out of six Bundesliga matches as they fell to 2-1 loss to Hamburger SV. Andreas Christensen put Dieter Hecking's men ahead, only for Filip Kostic to equalise before Bobby Wood scored a late winner for the home side.
Schalke found their form in the Bundesliga, defeating Augsburg with ease. Burgstaller scored a brace, while Daniel Caligiuri also scored to end a three-match winless run in the league.
