Description
120'
Again, Kalinic gets in, and again he thumps over from point-blank range. This time, though, the linesman’s flag spares his blushes.
118'
HOW DID HE MISS! Well, just moments ago I mentioned how Kalinic had hardly had a touch, but he has just wasted an incredible chance. Milan broke at pace, with the ball bundled down into the striker who, one-on-one with Strakosha, blazes over from close range.
117'
Vital defending from Calabria, who is in the right place at the right time to block Immobile’s goal-bound effort.
116'
While Anderson and Lukaku have certainly got involved since coming on for Lazio, Milan’s Kalinic has hardly touched the ball, and has been a real passenger so far. Just under five minutes remain now...
113'
What a waste that is from Anderson who, after getting into a good position down the right, elects to try his luck from range, and his strike soars harmlessly wide.
111'
Too much of the play - from both sides - is still in the middle third of the field, with no players looking to move in behind either defence. You can sense the frustration of both coaches, as their teams struggle to link any meaningful moves together.
108'
F. Borini enters the game and replaces Suso.
A final change for the visitors. Suso is off, with Fabio Borini coming on.
106'
CHANCE! Straight from the off, Immobile gets in, but Romagnoli is over to block the striker's shot.
105' +1
There’ll be one minute added on to the first-half of extra-time…
103'
Ş. Radu gets yellow.
S. Milinković-Savić gets yellow.
Two bookings for Lazio in quick succession. First, Radu picks up a deserved caution for a lunge on Suso.
Then, for his reaction to that decision, Milinkovic-Savic goes into the book.
102'
It's another dreadful delivery, which Lazio clear with ease. Lukaku leads the counter, but Milinkovic-Savic fails to capitalise after being played in by the Belgian.
101'
It is so scrappy at the moment, as Suso is flattened by his former Liverpool team-mate Lucas. Calhanoglu stands over this one…
99'
CHANCE! Poor goalkeeping once again from Strakosha from the resulting corner. He is nowhere near Romagnoli as the Milan defender rises unmarked three yards out, but the youngster can’t turn his header on target.
98'
Calhanoglu goes for goal from range with a free-kick that takes a wicked deflection off Lazio’s wall. Strakosha has it covered, though the goalkeeper made sure to make the most of his save.
96'
R. Montolivo enters the game and replaces F. Kessié.
Great defending from Romagnoli, who gets across to prevent Immobile getting through with a well-timed slide tackle. That break in play allows Gattuso to make a change, replacing Franck Kessie with veteran midfielder Riccardo Montolivo.
95'
Lukaku will add some pace and athleticism to Lazio's attack, while also some balance. Lulic - a natural right-footer - has now switched sides, with the left-footed Lukaku slotting in down the left side.
93'
J. Lukaku enters the game and replaces A. Marušić.
A third and final change for Lazio. Adam Marusic is replaced by Jordan Lukaku.
91'
We are up and running in extra-time! The general quality of the play will need to be much improved from both sides if there are to be any goals in this one. The first half was open, though the shaky defending from both Milan and Lazio was equally as responsible as any decent attacking play.
90' +2
A. Marušić gets yellow.
A cynical, but necessary, foul from Marusic, who scythes down Calhanoglu following a quick break from the Turkey international. One final chance for Milan to get the ball into the area…
90' +1
We’re into two minutes of stoppage time…
90'
Awful! Again, the referee doesn't seem to force the Milan wall back far enough from the free-kick taker, which in this instance was Milinkovic-Savic. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, though, as the youngster gets his effort horridly wrong.
89'
A silly foul from Biglia, right on the cusp of Milan's area, as he brings down Anderson and provides his former club with a great chance...
87'
Milan have controlled possession for the last five minutes, but as soon as they encroach into Lazio’s defensive third, seem to lose their nerve completely. By the looks of tonight’s showing, whichever side does progress won’t present a test for Juventus…
83'
Bonaventura looks to spark something for the visitors as he races in down the left. His cross is blocked by De Vrij, but it results in a corner. Suso’s delivery, however, is a poor one.
81'
As it stands, we are heading for extra-time in this one. Suso drops in midfield as Milan make a rare foray forward, teeing up Rodriguez, whose long-range effort deflects wide for a corner.
78'
Milinkovic-Savic tries an audacious overhead kick from the centre of the area, and - as has been typical of his performance today - gets it horridly wrong.
76'
That’s abysmal from Lulic who, after latching onto a loose ball 20 yards out, hammers a strike well wide of the target, wasting a good position. The quality in the attacking third from both sides has been severely lacking.
74'
The free-kick comes to nothing, however, as Felipe Anderson hammers it straight into the wall, which did look somewhat closer to the ball than 10 yards.
73'
D. Calabria gets yellow.
A booking now for Calabria, after Immobile took a tumble on the edge of Milan’s area. The full-back did have a slight pull on the Lazio man’s shirt, but it was not enough to force him down, and the official’s decision seems harsh.
70'
N. Kalinić enters the game and replaces P. Cutrone.
A first change for Milan now. Patrick Cutrone, who could have scored twice in the first half, makes way. Nikola Kalinic, who hasn’t set the world alight following his switch from Fiorentina, comes on.
68'
Luiz Felipe enters the game and replaces M. Cáceres.
Inzaghi has seemingly had a change of mind over his second alteration, however. Dusan Basta looked set to come on, but instead it is Luiz Felipe who is introduced, in place of Martin Caceres.
67'
Felipe Anderson enters the game and replaces Luis Alberto.
Here's a first substitution for the hosts, as Luis Alberto makes way for Felipe Anderson.
64'
Alberto is dropping deeper to get on the ball and attempt to work some space, but there is coming to nothing so far. And Inzaghi is reacting, preparing to bring on two substitutions.
62'
Lucas’ passing has been good tonight, with the midfielder pulling the strings from deep. However, he lacks the quality to find an opening in Milan’s lines, and the more attack-minded Milinkovic-Savic and Parolo must take the initiative.
59'
That’s poor from Calhanoglu who, after getting into a promising position in the area, balloon’s his effort well wide. Milan are breaking through Lazio though, and the hosts could do with an injection of something fresh now, you feel...
58'
Alberto’s cross is a decent one, but Bonucci towers above the rest to clear it. Immobile latches onto the loose ball, but clearly handled it and the play is correctly brought back.
57'
A. Romagnoli gets yellow.
Well, the referee missed a blatant foul from Bonucci in the first half, but the former Juve man’s defensive partner Romagnoli doesn’t get away with what was, in truth, a much lesser offence now, after he blocks Immobile’s path. This will give Alberto the chance to deliver a free-kick…
55'
CHANCE! Fantastic play from Suso once again, as he slips a ball through to Calabria, who had beat Lazio’s offside trap. The full-back thumps a low strike towards the near post, but Strakosha was well-placed to make the stop.
53'
Twice, Lazio are close to getting through, but on both occasions some rushed play results in the hosts snatching at their opportunities.
50'
A high foot from Milinkovic-Savic results in a free-kick to Milan, relieving some of the pressure Lazio had managed to build over the course of a patently-worked move.
48'
Calhanoglu makes a good run to get onto the end of a lofted ball from midfield, only for his first touch to let him down. The Turkey playmaker is forced to stall his run and then cut back onto his right foot, but his eventual effort lacks the power to beat Strakosha.
46'
Lazio, who are actually wearing their dark blue away strip this evening despite playing at home, get us back up and running.
45' +1
There’ll be one minute of stoppage time here, with Milan now on the back foot as Lazio look to create one final chance. It comes to nothing, though, as Donnarumma comes out to gather in a poor cross.
43'
After Strakosha’s earlier mishap while coming to claim a cross, it’s now Donnarumma’s turn, as he flaps at a floated delivery in from the left flank. Fortunately for him, Lazio’s forwards can’t react quickly enough.
40'
Poor play from De Vrij, who slips as he tries to play a long ball out from the back, and simply concedes possession back to the visitors. The Dutchman is set to leave Lazio in the summer, but his shaky display so far won’t have impressed any potential suitors.
38'
F. Kessié gets yellow.
A first booking of the game is shown to Kessie, apparently for dissent.
36'
CHANCE! Donnarumma makes up for it now, though! Brilliant play from Lazio sees Immobile released in the area, but Milan’s shot-stopper stands firm to keep out the striker’s close-range effort.
34'
Wow! What a mistake by Donnarumma! A real misjudgement from Milan’s goalkeeper, who lets a long pass from Lucas drift past him, presumingly thinking it would triple out. Immobile was on his toes, though, and skipped around the youngster to get there. He turns the ball back across the face of goal but, from such a tight angle, there was no chance it was going in.
31'
Milan forge a neat move in Lazio’s final third, but it is brought to a halt by the linesman’s offside flag. The hosts try a quick counter, but Milinkovic-Savic can’t keep it in play.
28'
A real flow to this game, with opportunities at both ends. Milan have settled well after an initially shaky start, and are now testing Lazio’s back line.
26'
CHANCE! Strakosha makes a terrible attempt at punching a free-kick clear, only managing to palm the ball straight into a crowd of players. The ball spins kindly towards Cutrone, but he can’t quite stretch far enough to turn it home into an empty net.
24'
Again, Lazio are forced into taking a pot-shot from range - this time Lucas testing the waters with a powerful strike. But once more, Donnarumma isn’t troubled.
22'
Milinkovic-Savic looks to get in down the right, but he is well-marshalled by Milan’s defence. Then, Lulic tries his luck after cutting in from the left, but his effort deflects into Donnarumma’s arms.
18'
SO CLOSE! Outstanding play from Suso, who creates some space for himself before unleashing a low strike that forces Strakosha into action. His save is pounced upon by Cutrone, but his effort strikes the woodwork before deflecting out of play off the back of Lazio’s goalkeeper.
17'
Alberto is pressing right up alongside Immobile, and that is meaning that any mistake from Milan is being capitalised on quickly. A sloppy pass from Rodriguez finds Milinkovic-Savic, but his effort skims just wide.
15'
Lazio are extremely comfortable at the moment, but there has been no way through Milan's lines as of yet. The visitors are now stepping onto the front foot, but a disappointing cross from Calabria brings a promising move to an end.
12'
Milan simply can’t get out of their own half at the moment, although this may well be part of Gattuso’s game plan - to soak up any early pressure and hit Lazio on the counter. Away goals do count, so that could well be a viable tactic. The visitors defence will have to be at their very best to keep Lazio out, however.
10'
Lazio are fuming here, after Alberto goes down 20 yards out after being clattered into by Bonucci. It clearly should have been a free-kick, but the referee, for some reason, is having none of it.
8'
Experienced play from Lucas, who gets across sharply to prevent Cutrone getting free down the left wing, following a quick break from the visitors. Moments earlier, Donnarumma had pulled off another fine save to deny the hosts.
6'
SAVE! That’s a brilliant stop from Donnarumma, as Milan’s young star lunges back to tip Immobile’s powerful header over. The visitors are under some early pressure, here.
4'
A first half-chance for Lazio, as Lucas pulls the strings in midfield and spreads it out wide to the advancing Lulic. His cross finds Immobile, but the striker can’t connect properly with his effort.
2'
Lazio finished runners-up to Juve in this competition last term, and Inzaghi’s side will surely be determined to get to the final and enact some revenge this term. The hosts start positively, with Alberto making a driving run in behind Milan’s line, only to be flagged offside.
1'
KICK-OFF! Milan, donning their changed white strip, get proceedings underway!
Welcome to LIVE coverage of the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final between Lazio and AC Milan!
It’s a clash of two of Serie A’s in form sides this evening and, following on from the goalless draw in the first leg, there’s still everything to play for at the Stadio Olimpico. Juventus, who overcame Atalanta earlier on, await the winners.
It has been a superb campaign so far for Lazio, although their form seemed to have hit a snag when they lost four out of five games in all competitions. Since then, however, Simeone Inzaghi’s side have won their last three matches, scoring 10 goals and conceding just one.
Gennaro Gattuso, meanwhile, has galvanised a Milan side that looked destined for mid-table mediocrity this term. The Rossoneri are seventh in Serie A as it stands, having won their last six games in all competitions without letting in a goal, and will be hoping to cap their rejuvenated season off with a chance of claiming silverware.
No real surprises from Inzaghi, who names an extremely strong side, although the versatile Dusan Basta doesn't feature. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic - who has dazzled in Lazio’s midfield this campaign - will be tasked with offering support from deep, with Luis Alberto playing just off Ciro Immobile.
No change from Gattuso, as he elects to stick with the Milan side that comfortably beat Roma at this stadium last time out. That means in-form Patrick Cutrone is preferred up top, with both Andre Silva and Nikola Kalinic on the bench. In midfield, Lucas Biglia starts against his former club.
The teams are heading out of the tunnel now, in front of a vibrant, excited time at Stadio Olimpico. We should be set for a cracking tie in the Italian capital!
Lazio (3-5-1-1): Strakosha; Caceres, De Vrij, Radu; Marusic, Parolo, Lucas Leiva, Milinkovic-Savic, Lulic; Luis Alberto; Immobile.
It’s half-time in Rome, where it remains goalless between Lazio and Milan. Plenty of chances for both sides, with Cutrone and Immobile both going close.
So far, it has to be said, the quality in the final third from both sides has been lacking. Lazio have looked sharp at times, but Milan’s defence has coped relatively well, while Cutrone probably should have done better from close-range when he struck the post.
Suso has looked Milan’s brightest spark in terms of creativity, and the visitors should try to utilise the former Liverpool winger at every opportunity. As for Lazio, they must get Milinkovic-Savic more involved, as the midfielder has been something of a passenger so far.
But, like every other set-piece so far, it comes to nothing, and the official calls full-time, and we are heading for extra-time!
In truth, that second-half was instantly forgettable, and both sides have much to improve upon in this extra 30 minutes of play. If neither can find an opening, we will head to penalties.
It's half-time in extra-time and we're still no closer to knowing who will make it into the Coppa Italia final. Fifteen minutes to get a goal, or it heads to penalties.
After a frustrating 120 minutes at Stadio Olimpico, the crowd will now have to wait a little longer for this one to be settled.
That's it! We're heading to penalties!
Here we go, as both sides gather on the half-way line, as the sleet pours down in Rome. Immobile is first up...
GOAL! Immobile’s effort is close to Donnarumma, but has enough power on it to find the net!
MISS! Rodriguez’s effort lacks any power, and Strakosha makes the save!
POOR! That is dreadful from Montolivo, who wastes the opportunity to draw Milan level in the shoot-out by firing straight at Strakosha!
SAVE! Donnarumma is the hero now, as he gets down low to his left to keep out Milinkovic-Savic’s tame strike.
ANOTHER SAVE! It’s Lucas’ turn to be embarrassed now, as he doesn’t manage to generate the power or direction to beat Donnarumma!
That’s brilliant from Parolo, who hammers a low effort into the bottom-left corner, giving Donnarumma no chance.
Finally, a goal for Milan! Bonaventura goes for power on a low strike, that is past Strakosha before Lasio’s goalkeeper can react.
Borini stutters in his run up, but connects well enough with his shot to beat Strakosha. It’s 2-2 after four penalties each…
Risky from Anderson who, after a short run up, fires his strike close to Donnarumma, but he can’t get down quickly enough to keep it out. Pressure on Milan…
Superb from Bonucci, who keeps his nerve to thump an effort high into the middle of the net. It’s onto sudden death!
Well, he scuffed it somewhat, but Lazio’s captain Lulic sends Donnarumma the wrong way, and heap the pressure back onto Milan, and Calhanoglu…
No mistake from the Turkey international, who hammers a super penalty into the bottom-left corner.
AWFUL! Felipe gets his effort all wrong, and skies it way over the crossbar. Milan can win it now, and it is boyhood Lazio fan Romagnoli who will take this penalty…
GOOOOAAAAALLL!!! ROMAGNOLI SCORES! Milan are in the final!
Well, after a torrid encounter, it is former Roma star - and boyhood Lazio supporter - who has made the difference with a composed penalty in a penalty shoot-out that reflected the dire quality of the game overall.
That’s all from me for now. Until next time, thank you and goodbye!
It will matter little for Milan, though, as they can now look forward to the Coppa Italia final. For Lazio, however, their only chance of claiming silverware this season will come in the Europa League.
