P. Foden has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by R. Sterling.
It's a neat pass, from right to left, from Sterling who broke with speed out of midfield there. That may be the last play of the game, with only a few seconds left.
FODEN BRINGS UP THE TRIPLE! 3-0! It's a goal the young Englishman will remember - his first for the club - as he races onto a neat Sterling pass and sweeps a left-footed effort beneath Mitchell into the bottom-right corner. Manchester City are heading into the fourth round of the EFL Cup!
90'
There's going to be three extra minutes as City seek to play the rest of this tie out in comfort.
88'
Foden canters onto a square pass on the left edge of the box and pops off a shot; Mitchell tips it wide for a corner. Kompany rises to meet the set-piece at the right post and puts it into the side netting.
86'
Adrián Bernabé enters the game and replaces R. Mahrez.
City make their final change - and it is Bernabe who gets the nod for his senior debut, replacing Mahrez.
85'
Sterling and Jesus both see attempts in the box deflected off defenders and calls for a handball go unheeded by the referee.
83'
R. Dickie gets yellow.
82'
Dickie comes in late on Jesus and picks up a yellow card for his challenge.
81'
City think they are in for a third, but the flag is up against Sterling following his cut-back pass in the box.
78'
R. Mahrez has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by P. Foden.
That's the second excellent delivery to help set up a City goal from Foden in this match; the youngster, tipped for a brilliant future, is proving his worth so far.
MAHREZ MAKES IT 2-0! Surely that seals the deal for City! On a brisk counter, Foden cuts out the entire Oxford defence with a wonderful pass to pick out the Algeria forward on the right flank - and one-on-one with Mitchell, he buries a crisp finish into the bottom-left corner. The visitors look like they are heading to the fourth round.
Minute
Description
77'
S. Smith enters the game and replaces R. Holmes.
Mitchell is alright to continue, which means Oxford make their last change as planned, with Smith replacing Holmes.
76'
City deal with the corner and counter swiftly. Sterling sees a shot blocked at close range by Mitchell and play grinds to a halt as the Oxford keeper stays down.
74'
What was Muric doing there?! A deep throw-in from the right flank is lobbed into the City box and the young keeper comes off his line by 10 yards to meet it. He fails to collect however and it takes an Otamendi header to clear for a corner before any Oxford player can take the advantage.
73'
A long, crossfield ball picks out Sterling on the left of the hosts' penalty area, but the flag comes up for offside and the free-kick goes against City.
71'
Better from City now though; a wonderful square pass across the Oxford six-yard box finds Foden who puts it into the side netting by a matter of inches.
70'
Jesus lets fly with another attempt down at the other end and goes closer to clipping a van in the car park behind than finding the goal.
68'
Holmes finishes off an Oxford counter down the left flank by attempting to hammer in a 30-yard screamer. Alas, it is less a screamer and more of a scuffed finish, one that skips wide at the near post for a goal-kick.
67'
J. Henry enters the game and replaces J. Hanson.
Oxford look to add a little more experience now and introduce Henry for Hanson.
65'
Hanson and Holmes combine but Foden is quick to clear to halfway and the chance slips away for the hosts.
64'
Danilo gets yellow.
Oxford are granted a rare set-piece chance off their left flank after Danilo comes in late on Baptiste, with the City man shown a yellow card for his efforts.
63'
İ. Gündoğan enters the game and replaces David Silva.
It's the last act of David Silva; Gundogan replaces him from the bench a moment later.
62'
On the left wing, Long now concedes a corner and City play it deep to Zinchenko. Mahrez takes the cut-back and lifts it in for David Silva, only for the latter to concede a foul for a shove on Hanson.
61'
The set-piece tipped in finds Sterling after a nervy few moments where it ricochets around the box following a punch from Mitchell - but the England man opts to square to Zinchenko who plays it back deep rather than going for goal.
60'
Garbutt blocks a cross aimed towards Sterling in the box and City win themselves a corner on the right flank.
58'
Hanson cleans out Jesus with a late challenge and City get the free-kick just inside Oxford's half.
56'
Holmes is leading from the front for Oxford right now as he embarks on another blistering counter down the right wing - only for Zinchenko to pick his pocket, and play it deep back down the other end to Mahrez who puts his finish over and wide to the left.
55'
R. Sterling enters the game and replaces Brahim Díaz.
J. Ruffels enters the game and replaces C. Brannagan.
Injuries are going to force a change for both sides. City remove Diaz, who hobbles off, and replace him with Sterling.
Likewise, Oxford take off the limping Brannagan and introduce Ruffles to replace him.
54'
The game is paused now with players on both sides both needing treatment.
52'
A breathless passage of play zings from end-to-end following an appeal for a penalty from Diaz after a handball in the Oxford box, in which the hosts, the visitors and the hosts again all create good attempts on the counter.
50'
Danilo hooks a right-footed effort from 22 yards out over the top left corner, sending it whistling just over the woodwork.
49'
Holmes leaps up for a long ball and bowls over Otamendi in the process, conceding the free-kick on the edge of the City box.
48'
Mahrez spreads a chance wide of the right post early on, but the opening exchanges are otherwise cautious from both.
46'
We're back underway for the second half with no changes by either side; will City seal their progression in style or can Oxford manage a comeback against the odds?
45' +2
HALF-TIME: OXFORD UNITED 0-1 MANCHESTER CITY
45' +1
Holmes and Baptiste see off the set-piece and create a sparky counter that they are unable to keep going to the other end of the field.
45'
Diaz looks to finds Jesus with a square cross close to the left post in the Oxford box but Nelson heads away for a corner. One added minute of injury time is incoming.
44'
Mahrez gets the ball on the runaround across the face of the Oxford box and puts a left-footed effort wide from 20 yards.
41'
Mahrez and Diaz, probing on either wing, look to release Jesus into the box but Brannagan wins the ball back through an interception for the hosts.
39'
Oxford have done well so far to see off this rather creaky City display, but that pass from Foden to Diaz cut them open with surgical skill. Can they rescue themselves before the floodgates open?
37'
L. Garbutt gets yellow.
Garbutt is shown the yellow card for the foul in the build-up too, that led to the advantage play.
36'
Gabriel Jesus has scored a goal for Manchester City!
JESUS GIVES CITY THE LEAD! 1-0! City's pressure finally tells as they play the advantage following a foul and catch Oxford out with a wonderful, looping long ball to Diaz on the left edge of the box. The subsequent shot takes a deflection away from goal, towards the right post - and Jesus has no trouble turning a close header past Mitchell to put his side in front.
35'
Mahrez looks to atone for his indecision by blasting an attempt towards goal from 25 yards out on the very next play, though he only puts it somewhere into the stand behind.
34'
City counter swiftly and win another corner on the left flank. The set-piece falls neatly to Mahrez in a crowded box, but he can't get a shot away and Dickie clears to the centre circle.
33'
Out of the blue, Oxford wrestle control in midfield and Baptiste slides a wonderful throughball to Obika. The latter is flagged offside as he goes one-on-one with Muric - which helps spare his blushes as he lofts his shot over the crossbar.
31'
Another foul on Diaz, out on the left wing again, allows City to spear a free-kick into the box that Kompany almost heads home, were it not for Nelson executing a hasty clearing kick.
30'
The hosts give away a foul of their own straight away as Nelson comes in high and a tad late on Jesus.
29'
Diaz embarks on a weaving run down the left flank again for City but concedes the foul after he muscles Long over following an attempted tackle on the edge of the box.
26'
David Silva is the latest man to fluff an attempt for City as, slipped a pass in to the penalty spot, he turns and fires wide of the left post. The visitors need to shake off some rust right now.
24'
Zinchenko launches a whip-crack of a shot off the left wing that curves nicely for Mitchell to parry. The longer City go without a goal, the more Oxford grow in confidence.
22'
Just shy of a quarter of the game gone and City have only managed four attempts on goal, as Danilo blasts the latest effort well wide and high to the right off a square ball from Jesus.
20'
The hosts respond with a rather cavalier passage of play that sees the home crowd cheering every successful pass. Baptiste almost breaks into the City box at the end of the move, but slips over the ball and loses possession.
19'
JESUS FOR - wait, no! Offside! City have a goal chalked off after the linesman flags a final touch from Jesus to turn David Silva's throughball in behind Mitchell. A lucky escape for Oxford.
16'
City haven't set this game alight in the way they so often can, but virtually all of the action has been around the Oxford box. Remember, if the game is level at full-time, this encounter will go straight to penalties.
14'
Zinchenko finds Mahrez on the right wing with a booming cross and the former Leicester man combines with Danilo to pop the ball into the box for Jesus. Alas, the latter drifts ahead of the defence and is flagged for offside.
12'
Back-to-back corners again for City and Mitchell comes off his line to punch away the first and claim the second. Good keeping from the Oxford man.
10'
Danilo looks to blast an effort towards goal from just outside the box, only for it to ricochet off a defender. The ball falls to Foden and his follow-up attempt flies wildly out off another deflection for a corner.
8'
Foden catches Baptiste with a trailing leg and the hosts have the free-kick just inside their own half.
6'
The set-piece finds Kompany at the near-post and the City captain bundles his clumsy touch wide for a goal-kick.
5'
After a delay for the referee to deal with a rather large balloon floating around the Oxford goal, the corner is lofted across the face of goal. The hosts press back to halfway, only for Diaz to carve back down the left wing and win a second corner in as many minutes.
3'
David Silva and Diaz combine on the left edge of the Oxford box, but can't find a clear chance to shoot for goal. Nelson clears for the hosts, but Mahrez comes back down the right flank and wins a corner.

We are underway in this 2018-19 EFL Cup clash between Oxford United and Manchester City!
It’s been a similar passage of time since these two sides previously squared off, way back in the 1997-98 season in the old First Division. Oxford won 2-0 at Maine Road on that occasion; a victory that served as a precursor to City’s relegation only weeks later. How times have changed…
The holders of the League Cup haven’t lost a tie against third-tier opposition in over two decades, since October 1997 when Leicester lost 3-1 to Grimsby – but could the hosts fancy themselves as giantkillers against Pep Guardiola’s side?
Team news now and Oxford have made four changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Walsall on Saturday. 20-year-old Shandon Baptiste captains the team for the first time while defender Sam Long makes his first start in almost two years, having last featured in the XI in October 2016.
As for City, they make a whopping 10 changes to the team who put five past Cardiff – yet can still find room for the likes of David Silva, John Stones, Riyad Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus and Vincent Kompany. 19-year-old Montenegro junior Arijanet Muric makes his debut for the club in goal.
MANCHESTER CITY (3-4-3): Arijanet Muric; Vincent Kompany, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Danilo, David Silva, Phil Foden; Gabriel Jesus, Brahim Diaz, Riyad Mahrez.
Subs: John Mousinho, Sam Smith, Charlie Raglan, Josh Ruffels, James Henry, Tony McMahon, Scott Shearer.
OXFORD UNITED (4-5-1): Jonathan Mitchell; Robert Dickie, Luke Garbutt, Curtis Nelson, Jamie Hanson; Gavin Whyte, Cameron Brannagan, Sam Long, Ricky Holmes, Shandon Baptiste; Jonathan Obika.
The teams are out at Kassam Stadium and we're moments away from kick-off.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the third round of the 2018-19 EFL Cup as holders Manchester City make their bow with a trip to League One outfit Oxford United at Kassam Stadium.
A header from Gabriel Jesus is the difference between cup champions Manchester City and League One outfit Oxford United at the break - and there's been rare, little bursts of inspiration that will give the hosts heart. Pep Guardiola's side have not been at their best with a rusty showing - but they will be grateful for a lead that gives them one foot in the fourth round. At half-time, it's Oxford United 0-1 Manchester City.
It's unlikely either side will make changes at the break - but City do need to shake themselves off a bit. Their second-string side today may still be very impressive on paper - but they have struggled to finish against their less accomplished hopes so far.
Phil Foden's first goal for his club caps off an ultimately convincing win for the League Cup holders, even if they were slow to start at Kassam Stadium. Oxford United go down in defeat - but they have done themselves no dishonour against the Premier League champions. At full-time, it finishes Oxford United 0-3 Manchester City.
It's back to league duties for both sides this weekend now, as Oxford look to arrest their poor form against Wimbledon in League One. As for City, they host Brighton at the Etihad Stadium. Until then, thank you for joining us - and have a good week!
