E. Hazard has scored a goal for Chelsea! Assist by César Azpilicueta.
Azpilicueta gets the assist after a neat little lay off on the right wing.
HAAZZZZARDDDD!!!! That is incredible! Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea - The Reds stand off the Belgian and he punishes them with a mazy run and a beautiful strike. He beats Firmino and Moreno with nutmegs before smashing his shot across goal and into the top corner.
84'
OFF THE BAR - The game has now become end-to-end and Liverpool nearly lead for a second time. Shaqiri picks out Firmino, his backheel sets up Sturridge but the left-footed effort smacks the bar and goes behind for a goal kick. That would have been another sublime goal!
81'
A goal from nowhere has given Chelsea a lifeline. We could be in for an exciting final 10 minutes.
79'
Emerson has scored a goal for Chelsea!
GOAAALLLLLL - Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea! Emerson bundles the ball home and it is game on again at Anfield. Hazard's free-kick from the right picked out Barkley but Mignolet spilled his header into the path of Emerson. VAR was considered but the goal stands!

77'
Shaqiri runs into the Chelsea box before turning his marker but he slips and the referee waves away his penalty appeals.

73'
David Luiz enters the game and replaces A. Christensen.
Christensen looks to have picked up a knock and Luiz now enters the game with 17 minutes remaining.
71'
Roberto Firmino enters the game and replaces S. Mané.
Mane's last action is to concede a goal kick and he receives a huge round of applause before coming off for Firmino.
67'
Chelsea have still not done enough in the final third to warrant a goal. They have been forced back by Liverpool and whatever Klopp said to his players clearly worked.
64'
N. Kanté enters the game and replaces M. Kovačić.
Change for Chelsea as Kante steps onto the field to replace Kovacic.
62'
That strike has stunned Chelsea and rightly so. Shaqiri now goes close with a drive from distance and Sarri's men will need to be careful here as they could easily fall two-nil behind.
60'
J. Henderson enters the game and replaces J. Milner.
Milner now gets a rest and he is replaced by regular captain Henderson.
58'
D. Sturridge has scored a goal for Liverpool!
WHAT A GOAL Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea!!! - Sturridge lifts the roof off of Anfield with a delicious overhead kick from inside the box. Keita had originally stung the palms of Caballero and the keeper could only tee up Sturridge who smashed it home.
56'
E. Hazard enters the game and replaces Willian.
Fabinho gets yellow.
Big statement from Sarri as he throws on Hazard for Willian. Can the Belgian transfer his Premier League form into the EFL Cup?
Fabinho gets a yellow card after two poor tackles in succession.
53'
After back-to-back corners, Chelsea survive but that is two defensive errors that should have been punished.
52'
CHANCE - Barkley fails to look behind him before heading back to Caballero and Mane latched onto his error. The winger sees his sliding shot take a deflection and Liverpool win a corner.
50'
M. Kovačić gets yellow.
Kovacic is now in the book and it comes as no surprise. He chops down Shaqiri on halfway as he was about to start an attack.
47'
HUGE MISS - Chelsea fall asleep at the back and a no-look pass allows Sturridge to run in on goal. Caballero gets a hand to the ball to force him wide but the England international gets a second go but somehow fires wide of the post. It should be 1-0!
46'
We are back underway...
45' +1
HALF TIME - Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea.
45'
One minute of stoppage time at Anfield...

Another claim for a penalty as the ball hits Fabregas on the hand again but it seemed to be fired at him. Chelsea ignore the appeals and start an attack from the back.
33'
Chelsea register a couple of half chances on the edge of the Liverpool box but Moses, Morata and Willian all fail to generate enough power to test Mignolet. It remains 0-0.

Anfield erupts as the fans demand a penalty as Keita goes down under a challenge from Cahill. However, none of the officials are tempted and the game goes on.
30'
Now Moreno limps out of a challenge and these two knocks will not be welcomed by Klopp on the touchline.
28'
We have an injury break as Mane stays down after a mid-air challenge with Azpilicueta.
26'

Matip now joins Milner in the book after he clips Kovacic's heels from behind.
24'
It is still early days in this EFL Cup encounter but Chelsea have definitely enjoyed the brighter start.
22'
Willian's cross picks out Morata from that free-kick but Liverpool do well to block and then clear their lines.
21'
J. Milner gets yellow.
Milner is first into the book after giving away a free-kick on the edge of the box.
19'
Chelsea pile forward again and Morata turns inside the box so he can shoot on his stronger right foot. However, he takes too long and Mignolet can come out to make a save.
17'
SO CLOSE - Morata latches onto a Fabregas through ball before aiming for the net. His first strike is blocked by Mignolet before his second trickles across goal and away from danger.
15'
Despite having very few chances, there is plenty of quality on show. Unfortunately the defending has been superb so we may have to wait for our first goal.
13'
The game is much more stretched now and you would naturally claim that will suit Liverpool. However, with no Mohamed Salah they do have less pace up top tonight.
11'
WIDE - Barkley drops into space before turning and running at the Liverpool goal. The England international aims for the top corner but he can only fire wide of the near post.
10'
Shaqiri goes close after getting into a good position but Liverpool keep up the pressure and Mane finds himself in the box. He appeals for a penalty but the referee suggests it did not hit Fabregas' hand.
8'
The Blues win a free-kick in a good position but Willian can only curl it into the stands. In fact the shot was that bad that the Reds crowd could even afford a sarcastic cheer.
5'
Liverpool are yet to adjust to Chelsea's tactics and Barkley is getting plenty of space in the middle of the park. He would love to get a goal at Anfield, especially considering his Everton connections.
3'
Early save for Mignolet and that will do him the world of good. Chelsea won a corner but Christensen's header could only sail into the Belgian's hands.
2'
It has been a relatively low key start but Chelsea have just edged possession. The likes of Barkley and Fabregas will be looking to impress tonight and the same can be said for Liverpool's Fabinho.
1'
We are underway at Anfield as Chelsea in all blue kick off. Liverpool in red of course and do not forget we are straight to penalties tonight if it is a draw.
Hello and welcome to tonight's live coverage of the EFL Cup meeting between Liverpool and Chelsea from Anfield. These two teams will get to know each other very well in the next few days, with a Premier League game on the horizon. For now it is all about the Cup and let's hope for a cracker on Merseyside.
Both teams come into the game in tremendous form, with Liverpool unbeaten since their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in May. While they slipped up against West Ham, Chelsea have enjoyed a fine start to life under Maurizio Sarri and are also yet to taste defeat.
TEAM NEWS coming up...
Liverpool Starting XI (4-3-3): Simon Mignolet, Nathaniel Clyne, Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren, Alberto Moreno, James Milner (c), Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri, Daniel Sturridge, Sadio Mane.
Liverpool SUBS: Mohamed Salah, Joseph Gomez, Roberto Firmino, Kamil Grabara, Dominic Solanke, Curtis Jones, Jordan Henderson.
Chelsea Starting XI (4-3-3): Willy Caballero, Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Gary Cahill (c), Emerson, Cesc Fabregas, Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley, Victor Moses, Alvaro Morata, Willian.
Chelsea SUBS: Marcin Bulka, Eden Hazard, Jorginho, Davide Zappacosta, N'Golo Kante, Callum Hudson-Odoi, David Luiz.
With Saturday's league game on the mind, both Klopp and Sarri have made eight changes each. Brazilian Fabinho gets his first start in a Liverpool shirt, while Mignolet plays in goal for the first time since January. For Chelsea, Cahill is back to add some experience to the backline.
The referee brings an end to the first 45 minutes and it is a pretty even game on Merseyside. Chelsea started well and they enjoyed plenty of success in midfield but Liverpool have since got to grips and had the best two chances. However, Keita and Mane were both denied by two fine saves from Caballero.
Liverpool will look to bring Sturridge into the game more in the second half and the same can be said for Chelsea. Morata has had one chance but the Spaniard needs more service if he is to be a threat this evening.
A moment of brilliance from Hazard ensures Chelsea progress to the next round of the EFL Cup. Despite being the better team in the second half, Liverpool somehow take the lead and lose the contest. Sturridge's goal was also eye-catching but Hazard's run and shot will take some beating this season.
Klopp will be left frustrated as their unbeaten run comes to an end but he will now get another crack at Chelsea this weekend. The two teams will meet at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night and Chelsea will feel that home advantage will see them home!
That is all tonight folks, thanks for joining us. Goodbye!
