88'
Consecutive corners are headed away by United and the third one is claimed by Henderson, who towers above his defenders and looks to release a long ball to start a counter-attack.
Romeu slides in through the back of Fleck and is lucky to escape a booking. The Blades have a free-kick from 25 yards out but nothing comes of it.
87'
Hassenhuttl has to be given a lot of credit for Saints' post-lockdown form. It is almost impossible to consider that this is the same side that shipped nine goals against Leicester earlier in the season.
85'
S. Long enters the game and replaces C. Adams.
Long replaces Adams, who has grabbed a wonderful brace in this game.
84'
Penalty goal scored by D. Ings for Southampton!
GOAL! 3-1 SOUTHAMPTON! Ings, who won the penalty, calmly steps up and places the ball in to the top left corner with his right foot. Henderson dives the right way but can't even get a hand to it.
81'
It seems like the Blades have been screaming out for Norwood, who has just been introduced. They have struggled to retain possession against the high press of Southampton and Norwood could have, perhaps, been that calming influence in midfield.
80'
O. Norwood enters the game and replaces C. Basham.
Norwood comes on for centre-back Basham as Wilder chases an equaliser.

Description
79'
Smallbone has made a real difference since coming on, he continues to find pockets of space in between United's lines and be a general nuisance out of possession - he looks a real talent.
77'
Ings is a little bit too keen in his chase of a lost ball and fouls Egan in United's area, before Henderson sends a free-kick high towards the head of Clarke.
76'
The hosts still look the most likely to grab the next goal and kill the game off, after Smallbone is fouled in the middle of the pitch. Ward-Prowse sends the resulting free-kick towards the penalty spot and Saints will have another corner on the left.
73'
Coming in to this game, all the talk was about whether Ings would be successful in his pursuit of the golden boot. However, it is his strike partner Adams, who will have to take all the plaudits after his two instinctive finishes from close range.
71'
C. Adams has scored a goal for Southampton!
GOAL!! 2-1 SOUTHAMPTON! Adams grabs a second as he guides the ball in to the bottom right corner with Henderson diving the opposite way. Once again, the goal comes from nothing as the ball ricochets off of Egan's midriff before falling to the feet of the Saints striker, who coolly slots away with his right foot.
70'
L. Clarke enters the game and replaces B. Sharp.
Clarke is Wilder's next change as the striker comes on to replace captain Sharp.
68'
For the last time this season, the players jog off the pitch for a quick drinks break.
66'
Southampton hunt in packs, this time it is Ings and Redmond who force the mistake from Lundstram and the hosts have a throw-in high up the pitch for their efforts.
61'
Romeu is covering so much ground, after his tackle in his own area, at the other end the Spaniard steals back possession from Fleck and rolls it out to Redmond. The winger dances around Baldock but his left-footed cross is straight in to the grateful hands of Henderson.
58'
After such a positive first half, Wilder's men are struggling to escape their own half in this second 45 as Hassenhuttl's side continue to work possession with real intent and press in numbers high up the pitch.
54'
Southampton look to rub salt in to United's wounds as they search for a second, Ward-Prowse's corner nearly sets up Stephens but the Blades defend resolutely and clear their lines up the pitch.
51'
R. Živković enters the game and replaces O. McBurnie.
McBurnie is swapped out for Zivkovic up front.
50'
C. Adams has scored a goal for Southampton! Assist by W. Smallbone.
GOAL!!! 1-1! The ball flies about in midfield before Berge slide tackles Smallbone, however, the Norwegian’s tackle releases Adams in to the area and he slots a right-footed finish past Henderson's near post.
Smallbone is credited with the assist as Berge's tackle deflects off of the winger and releases Adams in on goal.
48'
Stevens attempts to fire a volleyed cross in to the Saints area and Stephens stands firm to clear the chance, with Sharp ready to pounce behind him.
47'
Adams is brought down twice near the United area early on, both times referee Bankes shakes his head and instructs Southampton's forward to get back on his feet.
46'
Both teams are back out, referee Bankes sounds his whistle and we are back underway for the final 45 minutes of the season!
45' +3
HALF-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 0-1 SHEFFIELD UNITED
Redmond and Bertrand exchange passes and make it in to United's area, with the full-back sending in a left-footed cross that is cleared away for another Saints corner, which Ward-Prowse will take.
45' +2
Bertrand chests down Henderson's goal-kick and is then bundled over by Lundstram near the left-hand touchline. The full-back looks to play quickly but won't be able to as Bankes suggests the ball was moving and orders a retake of the free-kick.
45'
There will be three minutes of added time in the first half here at St. Mary's where United lead 1-0.
44'
Basham lunges in with a slide tackle as Redmond glides past him on the left wing, the winger's cross then finds Ward-Prowse on the edge of the area but his shot is blocked by the hard-working Fleck.
42'
Ings and Ward-Prowse link up well and the former manages to win a corner on the left-hand side off of Baldock. Ward-Prowse whips in a delightful cross, only to be met by a crowd of United's luminous away shirts.
41'
The hosts are really struggling to make their passes stick, they continue to commit a lot of bodies forward in search of an equaliser yet that is only opening up more gaps for Sharp and McBurnie to exploit on the break up front.
39'
Sharp is fouled just past the halfway line and looks to play quick. Redmond steps in front of the free-kick and that means that the Blades opt to slow things down and retain possession.
37'
A fantastic solo run sees Redmond shimmy past Lundstram on the byline, the winger then slams a left-footed cross across the six-yard box, which ricochets around before a United shirt manages to clear long for Sharp to chase.
36'
Baldock overruns a pass to him wide on the right and then kicks the ball further away after it had gone out. Arguably, he should have been booked for that but neither Bankes nor Southampton seemed to kick up too much of a fuss about it.
34'
Saints nearly counter straight from McCarthy's save but Redmond manages to get in the way of Ings' shot and deflect the chance away for a goal-kick.
32'
That opener for United had been coming, both McBurnie and Sharp had already wasted earlier chances before Lundstram netted - the warning signs had already been there for Hassenhuttl's men.
30'
W. Smallbone enters the game and replaces S. Armstrong.
Armstrong, who suffered an injury earlier in the half, cannot carry on and is replaced by Smallbone.
26'
J. Lundstram has scored a goal for Sheffield United! Assist by B. Sharp.
GOALLLL!! 1-0 to the Blades as Lundstram slams home from inside the penalty area! Stevens swings in a left-footed cross from the touchline which Vestergaard and Bertrand fail to deal with. The cross then bounces through more bodies and falls kindly for Lundstram to smash in to the bottom right corner past McCarthy.
Sharp claims the assist as he gets the tiniest of touches on the cross, which then snuck through Vestergaard's open legs in the area.
24'
Ings and Romeu attempt to combine not once but twice on the edge of United's area. Their persistence nearly pays off with Romeu volleying from close range until Basham steps in and blocks, followed by a hoofed clearance over the halfway line.
23'
Play is back underway as Bankes drops possession at the feet of Vestergaard and Southampton look to build from the back.
20'
Romeu looks to play over United's defence with a chipped pass to the pacy Adams, but even he will not have enough pace to catch that one as Henderson comes out and sweeps up any potential danger.
16'
Lundstram sells Bertrand with a dummy, cutting inside on to his left foot and getting his head up before opting to play backwards to Egan, who launces the ball long and out of play.
15'
At the other end, Baldock and Berge allow Redmond too much space and the winger cuts inside from the left but his shot is tame and straight in to the hands of Henderson.
12'
An early chance for McBurnie as Southampton fail to clear Basham's right-footed curling cross. The striker managed to chest Basham's cross down but could not swivel and release his shot under the pressure of Stephens in the box.
10'
Ings relentlessly presses Robinson and forces the centre-back in to launching a clearance long. The forward's pressing and fitness since the restart was something Hassenhuttl had praised during the week.
9'
Romeu drops deep before carrying the ball well over the halfway line, he then plays wide to Bertrand, however, Redmond and the full-back are not on the same wave length with their passes and the visitors have a goal-kick.
7'
Lundstram goes wandering down the right wing but fails to control the ball, much to his frustration as his anger rings out loud and clear around St. Mary's.
3'
McBurnie is penalised early on in the left-hand corner as he bundles over Stephens with a little nudge in the back.
1'
Referee Peter Bankes blows his whistle and the final game of the season is underway!
Hello and welcome to coverage of the Premier League fixture between Southampton and Sheffield United at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The Blades had a realistic chance of Europe before lockdown, however, three wins in 10 since the restart means they can now finish no higher than eighth. In contrasting fortunes, the hosts have climbed to 12th and are currently unbeaten in six - their best run since August 2016.
SOUTHAMPTON (4-4-2): Alex McCarthy; Kyle Walker-Peters, Jannik Vestergaard, Jack Stephens, Ryan Bertrand; Nathan Redmond, Oriol Romeu, James Ward-Prowse, Stuart Armstrong; Che Adams, Danny Ings.
SUBS: Angus Gunn, Yan Valery, Jake Vokins, Jan Bednarek, Kevin Danso, Will Smallbone, Dan N’Lundulu, Shane Long, Michael Obafemi.
SHEFFIELD UNITED (3-5-2): Dean Henderson; Jack Robinson, Chris Basham, John Egan; George Baldock, John Fleck, John Lundstram, Sander Berge, Enda Stevens; Oliver McBurnie, Billy Sharp.
SUBS: Oliver Norwood, Ben Osborn, Simon Moore, Phil Jagielka, Leon Clarke, Richairo Zivkovic, Kieron Freeman, Jack Rodwell.
The players are making their way on to the pitch and the game will be underway shortly.
This game doesn't have the feel of an end of season game that has very little importance. Both sides are moving the ball about with purpose, with Wilder's men especially keen to sit back and hurt the hosts on the counter. If Southampton are to get anything from this game, they need to find a way to get Ings and Adams involved up front, while managing the danger of McBurnie and Sharp at the opposite end.
As the season finishes, Wilder and United will look back on their debut campaign with fond memories as they defied all pre-season odds to finish ninth. Nevertheless, there will also be a level of frustration that they couldn't replicate their remarkable form after the restart. For Southampton, they have done the opposite to their opponents; poor form before the restart has been corrected post-lockdown as the Saints finish in 11th place and remain unbeaten in seven.
That is all from me as the season comes to a close at St.Mary's Stadium. See you next time!
