We are underway at the City Ground.
Hello and welcome to the live commentary for the Premier League clash between Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
Forest will be in good spirits after goals from Renan Lodi and Jesse Lingard helped them beat Tottenham and move into the fourth round of the EFL Cup last time out. Drawing with Brentford in their previous Premier League match, Steve Cooper’s side are unbeaten in their last four home matches in all competitions, with their final game before the World Cup being their third at the City Ground in eight days. Bottom of the Premier League, winning two of their first 14 games, Forest will move out of the relegation zone if they secure three points and other results go their way. They have never lost a Premier League game against Palace (W2 D2), though this is the first such meeting since a 2-1 away win in April 1995.
As for Palace, they are out of the EFL Cup after being beaten on penalties by Newcastle United at St. James' Park. However, they are in good form in the Premier League. Leaving it late against West Ham, a 96th-minute winner from Michael Olise gave Patrick Vieira’s team their first away victory of the season last time out, with Palace winning three of their last four games in the league. Collecting 19 points from their first 13 games, Palace could go as high as sixth place with a win.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST (4-3-3): Dean Henderson; Serge Aurier, Willy Boly, Joe Worrall, Renan Lodi; Remo Freuler, Cheikhou Kouyate, Ryan Yates; Jesse Lingard, Brennan Johnson, Morgan Gibbs-White.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST SUBS: Scott McKenna, Taiwo Awoniyi, Neco Williams, Sam Surridge, Wayne Hennessey, Steve Cook, Lewis O'Brien, Jack Colback, Dale Taylor.
CRYSTAL PALACE (4-3-3): Vicente Guaita; Nathaniel Clyne, Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi, Tyrick Mitchell; Michael Olise, Cheick Doucoure, Jeffrey Schlupp; Jordan Ayew, Wilfried Zaha, Eberechi Eze.
CRYSTAL PALACE SUBS: Joel Ward, Odsonne Edouard, Luka Milivojevic, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Will Hughes, Jairo Riedewald, Sam Johnstone, Malcolm Ebiowei, James Tomkins.
Forest have a clear plan. Lingard and Johnson are positioned in the attack, with the players behind them looking to send the ball towards them on the break when the opportunity arises. It has worked on a couple of occasions, with Johnson shooting wide and Lingard getting Mitchell booked, but the Palace defenders are usually finding it quite easy to deal with - especially as the half went on. If they want to score, they must vary their attacking plan. As for Palace, they have had a lot of the ball, but have struggled to break down the opposition's defence. Zaha and Eze have looked bright in spells, but they too have been nullified.
That's all for today. Goodbye.
After the World Cup, Forest travel to Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Cup, with Palace hosting Fulham in the Premier League.
